China to Bangladesh Shipping Cost per kg: Air from ৳760, Sea from ৳120

Shipping from China to Bangladesh with DE International starts from ৳760 per kg by air (door to door, 5–7 days) and from ৳120 per kg by sea (door to door, 20–30 days). These are starting prices: the final rate for your shipment depends on the product type, the chargeable weight, the season and what you need included. DE International ships from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Yiwu to Dhaka and Chattogram, with customs clearance and delivery to your address, and confirms the exact rate in a written quote within 24 hours.

This guide brings together everything that decides your per-kg cost: air, sea, full containers, the hidden charges to check, and the simple ways to pay less.

How much does shipping from China to Bangladesh cost per kg?

  • Air cargo, door to door (DDP): from ৳760 per kg, about 5–7 days from our warehouse to your door. Best for samples, urgent orders, electronics accessories, cosmetics and fashion.
  • Sea cargo, door to door (DDP): from ৳120 per kg, about 20–30 days to your door. Best for heavy or bulky goods: machinery, furniture, building materials, wholesale stock.
  • Full container (FCL): priced per container, not per kg. Worth it once your goods fill most of a 20ft or 40ft container.

"From" means the lowest rate for general goods. Goods with batteries, liquids, powders, magnets, food or brand logos, very small shipments, and peak-season bookings cost more per kg. Send us your carton list and we confirm the real figure.

Why does the same kg cost different amounts?

Freight rates move. Airlines change cargo space prices week to week, sea freight follows shipping-line rates and fuel, and demand jumps before Eid, before Chinese New Year and around China's Golden Week in October. The product matters too: a carton of T-shirts and a carton of power banks may weigh the same, but they are handled, documented and routed differently.

So when anyone quotes a flat per-kg number without asking what you are shipping, treat it as a starting guess, not a price.

Air cargo: what decides the price per kg?

Air cargo is charged on the chargeable weight: the higher of the actual weight and the volumetric weight.

  • Actual weight: what the cartons weigh on the scale.
  • Volumetric weight: length x width x height in cm, divided by 6,000. In practice, 1 CBM of cargo is billed as at least 167 kg.

Example: a carton of 60 x 50 x 50 cm has a volume of 150,000 cubic cm, so its volumetric weight is 25 kg. If it weighs only 10 kg, you still pay for 25 kg. This is why light, bulky goods (plastic household items, pillows, toys, lampshades) cost more per "real" kg than people expect. Work out your figure with our CBM calculator or read how volumetric weight works.

Goods with built-in batteries or liquids usually fly via Hong Kong on approved routes and need extra paperwork. See shipping batteries and liquids by air before you book.

Sea cargo: per kg, per CBM and full containers

Sea cargo is far cheaper per kg than air but slower, and it has minimums.

  • LCL (shared container): your cartons share a container with other importers. Shipping lines price LCL by volume (CBM) or weight, whichever is greater. Our door-to-door sea service starts from ৳120 per kg for general goods, including customs clearance at Chattogram and delivery.
  • FCL (full container): you rent the whole container. A 20ft container holds roughly 25–28 CBM and a 40ft about 50–55 CBM in practice. FCL usually becomes cheaper than LCL from around 20 CBM. Compare the two in LCL vs FCL.
  • Timing: about 20–30 days door to door, longer in peak season or if documents are not ready. The port steps are explained in Chattogram port cargo arrival.

What is included in a door-to-door price?

A per-kg rate can include very different things. When you compare quotes, check each line:

  • Pickup in China: collecting goods from your supplier or market in Guangzhou, Shenzhen or Yiwu.
  • Warehouse and consolidation: receiving, counting, checking and combining goods from several suppliers.
  • Main freight: the air or sea leg itself, the part that moves most with season and fuel.
  • Export documents in China: export declaration and labels.
  • Customs clearance in Bangladesh: C&F work at Dhaka airport or Chattogram port, plus duty and taxes.
  • Port or airport charges: handling and storage, which grow fast if clearance is delayed.
  • Delivery in Bangladesh: to your shop or warehouse in Dhaka, Chattogram or another district.

Our DDP (door-to-door) rates include clearance and delivery. A port-to-port rate covers only the freight, so it looks cheaper, but you pay the rest yourself. See DDP shipping explained.

Which products cost more to ship?

  • General goods: clothing, shoes, bags, home items, hardware. These get the starting rates.
  • Special goods: batteries, liquids, cosmetics, powders, magnets, food and branded products. These need extra documents, separate routing or a higher rate, and some cannot fly.
  • High-duty goods: mobile phones, many electronics and some cosmetics carry higher customs duty in Bangladesh, which raises the all-in price when duty is included. Check your product in import duties and taxes in Bangladesh.

Always declare exactly what is in the cartons. Mis-declared goods are the most common reason shipments are held, fined or returned.

Seven ways to pay less per kg

  • Consolidate: combine orders from several suppliers into one shipment. Fixed costs are shared and you often save 30–40% compared with shipping each order separately. See how consolidation cuts costs.
  • Pack tightly: ask suppliers to remove empty space and oversized cartons. With air cargo you pay for volume.
  • Choose the right mode: move heavy, non-urgent goods by sea and keep air for samples and urgent stock.
  • Ship bigger, less often: larger shipments get better per-kg rates and spread the minimum charges.
  • Book early before peak seasons: before Eid, Chinese New Year and Golden Week, space tightens and rates rise.
  • Get documents right first time: a correct invoice, packing list and HS code avoid port storage and fines.
  • Compare like with like: only compare door-to-door quotes with door-to-door quotes.

How to estimate your cost before you ask for a quote

  • Step 1: Get the carton list from your supplier: number of cartons, size in cm and gross weight in kg.
  • Step 2: Work out the volumetric weight (air) or CBM (sea) and compare it with the actual weight.
  • Step 3: Pick the mode: air for small, urgent or high-value goods; sea for heavy or bulky goods.
  • Step 4: Note what the goods are and whether they contain batteries, liquids, powders or logos.
  • Step 5: Multiply the chargeable kg by the starting rate (৳760 air, ৳120 sea) for a first estimate.
  • Step 6: Ask for a written quote that lists everything included, then add duty if it is not included to get your total landed cost.
